  Notes	Ann M. Smathers, 80, of Clarion, died Tuesday morning, September 4, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Clarion. Born October 17, 1931, in Clarion; she was the daughter of Russell and Marie Bloom Bastress. Ann attended school in Clarion and a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College with an English degree. She enjoyed substitute teaching and her jobs as a proof -reader at the Courthouse and as an employee at the Clarion Library. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion. Ann was an avid reader, bridge player, and enjoyed to travel. Surviving are two daughters, Leslie Durgain and her husband, Curtis, of Laramie, WY; Hilda Gustafson and her husband, David, of Laramie, WY; and a son, John Smathers of Clarion; and three grandchildren, Morgan, Paige, and Logan. Also surviving are three sisters, Marilyn Flath, Jane Butler, and Karen Hager.She was preceded in death by her parents.
