Mae E. Ross, 87, Snydertown
SNYDERTOWN -- Mae E. Ross, 87, a former resident of Snydertown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at Sunbury Community Hospital. She was a resident of the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Paxinos, a daughter of the late Lester and Margaret (Bastress) Cook. On Sept. 24, 1938, in Hagerstown, Md., she married Russell A. Ross, who survives.
Mrs. Ross graduated from Sunbury High School in 1938.
She and her husband owned and operated a butcher shop in Snydertown for many years until their retirement in 1979.
Mrs. Ross was a faithful member of Church of Christ in Hummels Wharf.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Shirley George and her husband Norman of Snydertown; four grandchildren, Kevin George and his wife Lillian of Snydertown, Joanie Deibler and her husband Jeffrey of Snydertown, Martin George and his wife Deborah of Middleburg and Lisa Glass and her husband Brian of Port Trevorton; 10 great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Renee, Steven, Faith and Elizabeth George, all of Snydertown, Jadren Deibler of Wisconsin, Jentre Deibler of Snydertown, Kristin George of Selinsgrove, Cody Glass of Port Trevorton and Brian Glass, serving with the Army in Iraq; one sister, Alda Boyer and her husband Roy of Selinsgrove; one brother, David Cook and his wife Marie of Snydertown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Joshua Deibler, in 1980.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 by the Rev. James McIntyre.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
